Biography

Mr. Guo Ding has been an appointee to the CTCMA Board since 2017. He is currently a producer and host for Omni BC’s Mandarin News and is recognized as one of the most reputable current affairs commentators in the Chinese community. He was previously a producer and host for Channel M, commentator for Talentvision TV, senior reporter and editor for Mingpao Daily, international commentator for CBC Radio and a researcher for Tokyo’s Toyo Bunko, one of the world’s largest Asian studies libraries.

Mr. Ding obtained his Bachelor of Arts from Shanghai Normal University and a subsequent Master of Arts from Rikkyo University in Japan where he also pursued his doctoral candidacy.

Active in the community, he has served as a board director for S.U.C.C.E.S.S, Vancouver’s social and settlement services provider, and was an advisor to Royal Roads University’s Communications program.

The author of several books concerning modern history, politics, immigration and international affairs, he has received several awards, including the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and the Jack Webster Award for journalism.
