PCE Language Update

This is an update on the Pan-Canadian Entry-level Examinations in TCM and Acupuncture (PCE) and the languages in which these exams will be offered. The College has for some time been involved in developing the PCE, utilizing the services of the Canadian Alliance of Regulatory Bodies of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists (CARB-TCMPA) with the intent of ensuring their availability in both Chinese and English.

Today we can confirm that, for the shorter term, the PCE will be available in Chinese for the October 2022 and October 2023 administrations. This is, in part, thanks to the assistance of the $175,000 BC Government grant that was announced earlier. Please note that the April administrations will be available in English only. For more information, please refer to the CARB-TCMPA website: https://carb-tcmpa.org/pan-canadian-examinations-results/.

With regard to the longer term, CARB-TCMPA has released the following statement ”CARB-TCMPA intends to enter into a longer term, collaborative agreement with CTCMA to help ensure that the translated exams continue to be made available in a sustainable and defensible manner.”

The College is pleased with this announcement, recognizing the importance of the Chinese language in underpinning the teaching, practice, research, and nuance associated with traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture.

Once the College has formally signed the post-2023 agreement with CARB-TCMPA, we will provide another update.
