Board Nominations for 2023-2025 Now Open!

August 23, 2022

Have you ever wondered what goes on at Board meetings? How decisions are made? What it’s like to be able discuss issues with peers? What it takes to be a CTCMA Board member? And have you considered whether you would be good at it?

You’re already knowledgeable in the TCM sector so that part is covered. Your skills, knowledge and experience are needed. Your College would value your participation.

The Board Election for the 2023-2025 term will begin in early November, with voting taking place throughout the month.

Three positions are available and open to registrants in either of the following electoral districts:

  • District 1 (Lower Mainland)

  • District 2 (the province of British Columbia outside of Lower Mainland)

Of course, we want to be sure to have a full roster of qualified candidates. The deadline for Nominations is September 30 so you have plenty of time to think about someone you might want to nominate. Or maybe this is the year you decide to run yourself!

If you are committed to the profession, like to work hard, and enjoy peer-to-peer discussion, you could be an effective and valuable CTCMA Board member. We are privileged to be self-regulated and that is due to the contributions of those registrants who have served on the Board as well as those public members who have been appointed.

Here’s a quick look at the qualities the CTCMA Board is looking for.

  1. Ability to think and contribute strategically.

  2. Principled and ethical.

  3. Welcome the viewpoints of others.

  4. Good listener and communicator.

  5. Thrive on problem solving.

  6. Dedicated to serving the public.

Board members from all areas of our profession bring diverse points of view to the table and work as a team to make sound policy and governance decisions in the public interest.

Each new Board member receives an orientation to Board governance and takes and signs an Oath of Office confirming understanding and commitment to the role. The mandate of the Board is to uphold the College’s objective as set out in the Health Professions Act: to serve and protect the public.

This could be an opportunity to make a personally satisfying contribution. You’ll build your skill set. You’ll grow your network. And you’ll feel good, working to advance your chosen profession.

When you think about it, where else can you achieve both personal and professional benefits like these?

The College uses an online system for Board elections. Nominations are now open.
